During the Exhibition part of this year’s GPU Technology Conference, we spoke with Phillip Lunn, Chief Executive Officer of Bunkspeed, progressive company from South California which products you might have experienced already.

Bunkspeed software "Bunkspeed Shot" and "Bunkspeed Move" create rendered images and videos that are used in TV commercials such as flyovers inside the car while the metal body simply disappears in front of the camera and interior is shown better than in real life.

Their software is also used by car manufacturers to show virtual cars you can configure and see either an image or a 360 view of the customization you created. In order to create near-picture perfect images, Bunkspeed relies on the power of GPU acceleration. Unlike some solutions that are trying to sell as much professional hardware as possible, this software really likes the performance. The test system was configured to use four graphics cards, and the SLI capability isn’t of great importance, as almost everything is done via PCI Express.

Bunkspeed is as scalable as it goes, and the price of Bunkspeed Shot is only $999. I don’t want to sound like an old fart [the author of these lines only recently reached "level 31"], but this just might be incredible value – professional visualization software of this quality used to cost "indecent" amount of money for which you could actually buy a car that is shown in the image…
