Slowly but certainly, mobile apps are taking over the world in the same way computers did. Most recent example is an Android app that enables the clients to control the cabin in private jets.
Flight Display Systems, company that develops airplane electronics systems for commercial and military aircrafts recently completed development of Select CMS, application that enables the user to control lighting, window shades, movie library and other amenities through an Android powered device such as Archos 7 tablet (picture on the right).
In order to make this app work, the manufacturer created aircraft-grade avionics that support the Bluetooth protocol which is used for communication between aircraft cabin systems and the devices running the Select CMS app.
You might ask yourselves, who was the launch customer? A Hollywood movie producer that owns a Gulfstream III, of course. Here’s a hint: the person in question produced a popular movie which starred Gene Hackman, Will Smith and Jon Voight.
