Combining the eccentric pop singer, Lady Gaga, and the ubiquitous FarmVille creator, Zynga, you’d expect something that sounded like an African tribal leader: ZyngaGaga.  Instead you get a new game simply called: GagaVille.

To promote her new album, Lady Gaga teamed up with Zynga to deliver a specialized farm inside FarmVille and start sweepstakes
To promote her new album, Lady Gaga is starting sweepstakes for FarmVille players

To promote her latest album, Born this Way, and to hype the Zynga game series, the two have partnered to
offer a Gaga-themed farm with unique items, including crystals and unicorns. The album doesn’t arrive until the end of the month, but GagaVille visitors will get early and exclusive access to some songs.

Gaga virtual items should help buck up Zynga’s falling usage – game developer became a surprise hit in 2009-2010 by having up to 150 million active players per day – now down to "only" 72 million. Best Buy is getting a piece of the marketing action as well. To encourage fans to send a few dollars their way, Best Buy will offer a free download of Gaga’s new album with exclusive FarmVille content to fans who buy a $25 Zynga game card.

The fun continues. Words With Friends will have a daily "Words with Gaga" contest, where players can win Gaga prizes. You might get tickets to a future concert, or a copy of Born this Way, signed by the Lady herself. Limited edition Lady Gaga virtual items will also be available on RewardVille.com for use across several Zynga games.

Lady Gaga says: "Zynga has created a magical place in FarmVille" where unicorns and crystals abound and maybe a little leather and glitter. Owen Van Natta, VP at Zynga added: "We’re focused on creating
cool new ways to entertain and surprise our players."
Surprises begin May 17 and include Ms Gaga’s music. Each day, May 17 through May 19, a new song can be accessed by completing quests and unlocking Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio player.

Lady Gaga herself has a big heart. In March this year, she and the game company worked together to raise money for Japan relief efforts. Zynga players raised more than $2.5 million in just two weeks for Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund and other causes. Through Zynga.org, Zynga players, since October, 2009, have raised more than $10 million for world social causes by purchasing virtual social goods within Zynga games. Beneficiaries include earthquake victims, families without clean water,
and children in Haiti. To donate directly to Save the Children in Japan check out the website.
