On Computex Day Zero i.e. press day, while the booths are still being assembled and there is a mad rush to make everything shiny for the grand opening in less than eight hours from now.

After last week’s demonstration of seriously impressive Shadowgun game, which quite frankly, rivals early games on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the company demonstrated Glowball demo running on pre-release, first silicon of T30 SOC more commonly known as Kal-El or Tegra 3(D).

Shadowgun and Glowball demos show just what nVidia’s GeForce ULP GPU is bringing to handheld market. We would like to see Tile-Based Render GPUs such as ARM’s own Mali or Qualcomm’s Armada to demonstrate Shader-intensive graphics as impressive as this in high resolutions. Bear in mind that Tegra 2 is based on seven year old NV40, GeForce 6 technology, while Kal-El is based on more recent, half a decade old GeForce 8 i.e. G80. Once that competitors pick up, nVidia has a rich pool of GPU architectures which can and will be adjusted for ultra-low-power use.  nVidia certainly created an impressive demo for Tegra 3(D) which will become available for free in the Android Market (through Tegra Zone App).

However, the company still has to significantly raise up their game, since Texas Instruments OMAP4 was chosen to be a reference platform for Google’s next-gen OS Ice Cream Sandwich (unification between Tablet and Smartphone OS), and our well-positioned sources among nVidia tablet manufacturers often criticize nVidia in terms of hardware availability for their engineers. However, the company shows dedication to change that deficit, unlike some much larger competitors which are being passed by at this moment.

And those same partners later rely on the impressiveness of these demos and games to sell more products. We can’t wait to see Glowball demo running on a Kal-El tablet.
