Without any doubt, 2011 is the year of comebacks. Duke Nukem, Diablo, Deus Ex are just a small sample of titles that are coming back to the market. Now, Carmageddon joins the fold. The controversial racing game that had put the choice to the player on how to complete the track (annihilate all the opponents, kill all the pedestrians or go through all checkpoints) became the topic of mainstream press with the yet-unseen amount of violence. To make the matters worse/better, one of best ways to "pick up the blonde" was pressing an Enter key (opening the side doors at speed).

Max is Back (or at least hopes so)

A decade after Carmageddon: The Death Race 2000 grazed on our displays, Stainless Games managed to acquire the intellectual property (IP) in relation to Carmageddon brand and announced that the company is working on a multi-platform title called "Carmageddon: Reincarnation". According to Patrick Buckland, CEO and co-founder of Stainless Games "Carmageddon has returned to its Indie developer roots, and the time is right to bring the game to a new audience."

One of my favorite titles among 300-strong game library. Remember when game boxes were actually...something special?

The company hopes to reach that sweet spot between veteran gamers who remember the game well and the new generation, which is yet to get introduced to "Pilediver Bonus!", "Splatter Bonus" and just how it feels to go full speed into a football stadium and well, caterpillar the whole team, receiving "Bonus for Artistic Impression."

The title is currently in pre-production, with the release planned for 2012. However, in order to produce the game, the company is seeking funding or a publishing partner. If I had couple of millions lying around, I’d definitely invest in the game, as the game will receive a lot of free marketing just by those parents-rights groups screaming to mainstream media alone.
