As time goes by and we enter the second half of the 2013, a plethora of Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 powered devices are emerging in a variety of rumors and sneak-peeks. Sony (NYSE:SNE) is likely to unveil their phablet device named Xperia Z U(ltra) on July 4, and join the club of enormous Android devices.

Sony recently sent out invites for the event that is going to be held in Paris. Tall, yet sleek and slim device is shown on the side of the invite saying ?Sony Mobile reserves a big surprise for you.? Big indeed, since according to the rumors the device is going to have a whopping 6.44-inch 1080p Triluminos display. This display technology uses quantum dots ? or rather, nanocrystals that emit light at specific wavelengths. Sony screens that use it generally have a fantastic color reproduction with high contrast and brightness levels.

With that said, a 6.5mm thin package reportedly contains the 2.2GHz Qualcomm?s Snapdragon 800 with the Adreno 330 graphics, paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage (via microSDHC), 3000mAh battery and an 8-megapixel Exmor RS rear shooter. General shape and design of the device reminds very much of the current Xperia Z line, which could lead to conclusion that the body is waterproof and dustproof as well ? but that particular piece of info is unknown in this particular rumor mill. Xperia Z Ultra should utilize some sort of stylus input as well, though it is unclear as to whether the pen is held inside of the device or comes as a separate accessory.

Rest of dimensions and mass of the device are ?familiar?, measuring 179.2 x 92 x 6.5mm and 212g. If available immediately after the event is held, this device could be among the first ones to utilize the most powerful SoC Qualcomm has on the mobile market.
