Motorola?s campaign for their upcoming smartphone has just begun, teasing ?the first smartphone you can design yourself? and some channels already broke what exactly will that mean. Customers will reportedly be able to choose colorful back covers, have them engraved, and receive them straight from the US factory.
While some rumors suggested that users will be able to choose internals of the device as well as the colorful exterior, for the moment being, only the latter part, cosmetics, is pretty much confirmed. Mid-March webiste Tinh t? brought some clear photos of the unit (subsequently removed) that appears to have the same back cover design as the ones pictured above:
Back side of the "X Phone" (now known as Moto X) hasn’t changed at all in recent months
Some time later, device was revealed again by Evan Blass, a man behind known Twitter handle @evleaks, but this time in a protective cover:
Couple of weeks ago @evleaks also said that the Motorola’s Moto X will carry a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (MSM8960), 720p screen, have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage plus 10MP and 2MP cameras. Device is also expected to run the latest version of Android (4.2.2). If this turns out to be the case, we do wonder what exactly Motorola?s CEO Dennis Woodside meant by saying that the device will directly compete with the likes of iPhone and Galaxy at the recently held D11 conference.
