Just about this time last year, we reviewed a nifty hand held scanning device called ScanStik. We were impressed with its performance. Today, we were notified of some big improvements. The new ScanStik SK600V from PlanOn wraps full page color scanning together with VoiceNotes and Bluetooth connectivity in the portable device.
Now you can send voice recordings to Bluetooth phones, tablets and computers along with the scanned image. Those images are not scanned slowly one line at a time, but a full page at once. You can save thousands of images via its MicroSD memory slot, whether in color or black and white at selectable resolutions up to 600 dpi resolution. The scans are 24-bit color JPG, or black and white TIF format. The battery that keeps all this running is re-chargeable Lithium Polymer.
The handy little scanner works with Windows, Mac, smartphones and tablets with OBEX Bluetooth transfer protocol. You can take advantage of its capabilities with Android, BlackBerry, WinMobile and most phones. Sorry iPhone users, this won?t work for you.
Combine the pocket sized printer with the hand held scanner and you have an Office in Your Pocket
The rest of us can get a ScanStik from the company, PlanOn, or a local retail store. MSRP is $249.99. This 2 ounce product comes with software from Abbyy Finereader SE professional level OCR and PaperPort SE for image editing and organizing. If you need a complete office-in-your-pocket, just slip a PlanOn PrintStik pocket sized printer in with the go-everywhere-with-you scanner. Print Resolution is 100 – 400 dpi or 600 dpi for the top of the line model. Three pages per minute won?t win any races, but it will get those small on site jobs done efficiently when you need a paper copy.
