UPDATE: Toshiba SNAFU delays Windows 7 free upgrade to December

Windows 7 Upgrade

We purchases a Satellite P500 directly from Toshiba in August 2009 and registered to receive the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade on October 9, 2009. After our order showed accepted and in process it has been cancelled 3 times. We have called Toshiba multiple times and have been told we can only email the third party vendor and that they will not disclose the name of the vendor and do not have a contact phone number. We have emailed multiple times as well. Today was the latest call with still no resolution. When you ask to speak with a manager, the customer relation person tells you they are a manager and that we have reached the highest level we can - I guess they have no customer relations above manager level - it shows!!! I wish we had purchased the computer at a retailer rather than from Toshiba - perhaps we would be able to return it.

DON't Let them Give you That CROCK ! We all Got RIPPED OFF ! I purchased a Satellite L550 Laptop in August 2009 at Office Max. IT has Vista Home Premium...,THUS....I Qualify for the Windows 7 Upgrade and have yet to receive it (as of Feb 15, 2010). I e-mailed, faxed, and mailed the required documents, no response. Toshiba wouldn't even let me enter the S/.N # again. (Their C>S> suggestion). They hope we just fade away. Well . This calls for a Class Action Lawsuit. I have a Lawyer warming up in the Bull Pen. All who are interested JUST e-mail me
returning for more responsible company

Returning my laptop after contacting Toshiba numerous times and receiving no explanation for the delay. I contacted them one last time last week and let them know I would be reporting to the BBB and the store agreed to accept my return. Toshiba immediately replied that my order has been accepted and will be shipped in 2 days. 1 week later my order is still showing in process. I am taking the store up on their offer and exchanging for an asus who I hear good things about their customer service. I do not want to get stuck with this laptop when there is a problem. If they can't fulfill a contracted promise which can be easily resolved I want nothing to do with the company and will never purchase a toshiba product again.

5th January and still no disk and also no communication from Toshiba!
I will be avoiding Toshiba laptops in future and recommending the same to everyone else; awful customer service especially as US customers got their win7 disks months ago!
Upgrade disc still not received

I have not received my Upgrade Disc from toshiba. Toshiba has sent me generic emails to any inquiry I have made. I will put this under the category of product not received as promised, return, and dispute any charges. I will be buying a better brand.
Dear Toshiba, you are borderline fraudsters and your customer service sucks; I paid you in July, windows 7 was released in October, and it is now January 2010. Way to GO! Happy New Year!
Toshiba Windows 7 DVD ? At end of January 2010 !!!!

Toshiba made me reconsider my next laptop choice, Toshiba will be deep down on the bottom now (and i had only Toshibas so far). Their totally incompetent Windows 7 upgrade disc delivery is a laugh at the face of the customer.
First, they had this problem from the article. Ok, i accept the fact that problems happen, the December 16 date on "Track your order" page was pretty stable. What is there now ? 25.1.2010. Damn you Toshiba, you already took the money from my credit card, but you will send the DVD one month later ?
Toshiba has fallen bellow Acer, Asus, MSI and HP Pavilion in my list now, and that is deep bottom of my list...
Oh come on !!!

It is now 12/17/09 and still no Windows 7.. I emailed Toshiba and they said that delivery would occur aprx 8 weeks after the 22 Oct release date. HP owners have had their copies for over a week.. Someone else said it "are we second class citizens"?? I think - no, I know that my next laptop will be an Apple product - and maybe sooner than I wanted !!!

It is a load of crap that this wasn't ready. I just checked my order status through Toshiba, and it still doesn't have a tracking number. I know that the fine print says "will ship within 60 days" but you'd think they would be more timely with their existing customers. I love my Toshiba laptop, but sometimes I get the feeling that the Toshiba organization is a bit of amateur hour. Just look at their website compared to other manufacturers.

I ordered a new laptop sometime in August, Windows 7 POP Approval marked on Aug 19th (saved the email in my inbox), I had to find out that there was a delay from googling the information as I had not received any information a week after Win7 launched. When I asked toshiba why I haven't received a tracking # (not telling them I didn't know about the delay) - they simply replied along the lines of: once your shipment is ready you will receive a tracking # - obviously something I already knew. Still haven't received an email re: a shipment delay as of November 09

It would not be wise for the company to offer it online... MAJOR abuse of the system would occur. imagine this... they want a mailing address to make sure they know that only one person is getting that copy. if they gave the key online, then it would allow us to put any address we wanted and fraud would happen.
They are doing their job right on that account. HOWEVER! THE LACK OF INFORMATION IS BS! THEY DO NOT care about the customer. They attempted to sell me a laptop with DEAD PIXALS ALL OVER the screen! they lost money on that one! But anyway back to the subject..... one issue with this system they are doing is both copies... vista and windows 7 are going to be valid.... that shouldn't happen...
Also to get things right.... there isn't a driver issue. They have made all the drivers needed for windows 7. if not, then those SMALL selected systems should be the only ones delayed. don't delay us all. BUT THE DRIVER DVD SHOULD BE ONLINE!!!!!!!!! THAT WOULD SAVE THE COMPANY A MAJOR AMOUNT OF MONEY!!!! hellz, make it a torrent and act like it was leaked if you're worried about accountability.

My MSI upgrade kit (which is ordered directly from microsoft) is now not scheduled to ship until December. I have contacted the Microsoft 7 Upgrade Program Team via https://windows7upgradeoption.com/ContactUs.aspx but have not heard back from them as of yet. It looks like any delays might be the fault of Microsoft, not the manufacturer. They should really offer a downloadable ISO. it will save them both time and money.
inaccurate NA reference

The North America reference is not correct. Toshiba in the US starts shipping discs next week, and their Windows 7 drivers & utilities are available now at http://pcsupport.toshiba.com/windows7.
