I too would like to see the points system gone. I hate it on my 360. I dont really care if it ever makes it as a phone honestly, but I would like to see the Iphone get stomped, hehe. Battery life while gaming is concerning though, but generally fixable a number of ways with larger capacity battery or some type of addon pack.

Thanks for the compliments. I thought I had added the part about swiping to get to the Quick play menu but I must have missed it :) thank you for adding that in.

Yes I agree with you about the Dock, However looked at from a stand point of 720p video out etc. being a main advertising point of the Zune HD. I feel the dock needs some more work to be viable. If you were able to output HD video and Audio to your TV without the dock that would be different. As it is you must have the dock to to get these well advertised parts of the Zune HD experience. That is why I included it the way that I did.

Still all on its own (without the dock) the Zune HD is a great player, with tons of room for improvements upgrades even with existing hardware. MS did a very good job.

Fascinating review -- one of the best and really unbiased reviews too. Just a few corrections/clarifications: after playing with it more, you might notice that you don't need to press the Home button to access the side menu (Pins, Quickplay, History, Recent) - you simply have to swipe the front menu to the right.
Also, the dock should really not be a cost issue (relatively speaking) as iPod/iPod Touch/iPhone owners have the same predicament if they want to output high quality video to an external monitor: you still have to buy a high quality dock or cable to do that, which would run you up about the same cost, if not more.
