I did see this a while ago but thought i'd comment. The crappiness of physx is that it demands a hell of a lot of processing power to run well. My old gtx 295 did it very well but i really dont see the point in paying for a card that is technically designed for physx only. I mean, if it's not a physx title, the G92 component sits there twiddling it's thumbs. And you paid a premium over the 285 price (if estimate above is correct)for that pleasure.
Not worth the money unless all games had Physx.
And like the rest of the comments, Fermi needs to appear soon or Nvidia are screwed - and that would be bad for competition and innovation.

NOOOOOOOOOO

YOU TRICKED ME THOUGHT GTx 300 was comming out in a week
woah by: Anonymous on 10/22/2009
geez, kool down kool aid.

no need to go apeturd on Theo. He's just reporting the news. Altho how he reckons its going to be an "interesting halloween" is beyond me... this card cannot compete with ATi's 5800 series if its selling for $350-$420.

yep, another stopgap move from nvidia which is showing their desparation to stem the loss of marketshare.
Fudo, how's the green Kool-Aid? by: Anonymous on 10/22/2009
Fudo, when you gonna stop sucking on JHH's dick and realize you've been played big time? This desperate, stop-gap measure won't compete effectively with Evergreen, and Fermi is about as close to production as a faster-than-light hyperdrive. In fact, considering we start production of the TerraFTL Type 1A engines next month, we'll beat nVidiots by at least a year.

So stop giving JHH blow-jobs and go out and dig up some FACTS instead of just being his PR cunt.
If you're considering a 5850 by: Anonymous on 10/22/2009
then don't bother waiting for Fermi.

Nvidia isn't launching with any low-end or mid-range parts.

There will be nothing remotely as affordable as 5850.
So and so... by: Radu M. Cosma on 10/22/2009
Great idea, but a terrible combination.
A G94 or G84 (or perhaps even G96?) would have been much more suitable for assisting a GT200 with PhysX effects.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there's a long way to games that will require something like G92 solely for PhysX calculations.
Perhaps a better combination would be Fermi+G92 (it that's even possible given the 2 use different memory types).
Will this thing even sell? by: Anonymous on 10/22/2009
People don't 2 old products in 1 box!

But be careful, semiaccurate may use that photo and say "we discovered another fake nvidia card"! hehe!
by: Anonymous on 10/21/2009
could this be like a preview for the next gen cards.. do they also feature an extra physx chip or will it be integrated into the new chip ?
Lunch Fermi ? by: Anonymous on 10/21/2009
Nvidia , Please launch fermi (GT300). I am waiting for that GPU... No more rebatching/rebranding
physx=joke by: Anonymous on 10/21/2009
Is this one of those parties where its not actually a halloween party but rather a surprise party hosted by Fermi just to fool me into dressing like a bat...
Otherwise this is not funny nVidia! What are we suppose to do with a card like that at this point in time
Knife to a gun fight by: Anonymous on 10/21/2009
This suppose to distract us from the fact that nVidia is very late to the, ATi hosted, directx 11 party?
Quit stalin nVidia by: Anonymous on 10/21/2009
All i know is Fermi based cards need to join the party, soon.
Otherwise will end up getting the 5850. It seems to be good a performer. If i can get my hands on one cause they really perform good in the sales department as well. Have u noticed that, nVidia...?
Looking at the calendar... by: Anonymous on 10/21/2009
... I had to check twice to make sure I had not warped to April Fool's day

What will the "dedicated" PhysX chip do that it couldn't do if it was also able to render graphics?

Seems like a waste.
rebrand me by: Anonymous on 10/21/2009
WOW im getting sick of this....nvidia upto its old trix, this is really scrapping the bottom of they barrel, and what a suprise... they have only done this with evga to keep them in the limelight and stop them thinking about using ati gpu's.

after buying nvidia gpu's for a number of years im done... i got myself a 5870 and it looks like i will be staying with the red team.
