Just to explain the Tesla difference. Both Quadro FX5800 and Tesla C1060 [and S1070 boards, for that matter] feature 4GB of GDDR3 memory, usually created by putting 32 memory chips on the PCB: 16 on the front [just like GTX280/285] and 16 on the back.

According to my colleague Nova, this move had negative effect on board temperature, as the back of the FX5800 card is sizzling hot.

I am too intrigued in HPC deals that nVidia signed. I thought they're all GT300/Fermi based, but maybe nV has an ace in their sleeves.

Why would NVIDIA even bother launching another overpriced DX10 graphics card? AND with only one partner... wierd.

since the one guy works for NVIDIA can he tell me what the difference is between a TESLA board, and a normal graphics card? and who were those thousands sold to? I haven't seen that press release yet.

It always comes down to some idiots ranting about how good 'their' team is. I still have my GTX 295 but I have bought 2 5850's and the reason is simple, power/heat/sound to rendering performance. So i'm clearly a graphics whore but an unbiased one. (I'll switch to Fermi if price point and the above ratios match.
What gets my goat is the pimply toss pots that mention 'charlie demerijan' as if he's god. Charlie famously stated the GTX x2 would never appear (the 295 is the x2). He said half a year ago there'd be no 200's left (you can still buy 'em and they're still not EOL'd). So stfu about Charlie you ape.
However, ATI have screwed up with their marketing, need more units for sale now before Fermi raises it's undoubtedly ugly and powerful head.

We won Tesla contracts and put thousands of GT200b chips on Tesla boards. If we EOL'ed GTX275, how come we are launching one with EVGA on Friday?

Since you're cheering for AMD, how come you are not writing home about the fact that AMD only sold 20,000 5850 and 5870 boards combined? You call that hard launch?

it would solve their problem, kind of. By increasing price, they reduce supplied demand and bring it closer to quantity supplied. Therefore, less of a shortage.

IMO this would just be a bad move. Firstly, it leaves a negative impression on customers (a price hike??). Secondly, it would mean less revenues and probably less profits as well.

The reason that you cannot get any GTX275 or GTX285 is because nVidia has EOL (End of Life) them, just as charlie reported weeks ago. nVidia has stopped making the overly expensive non-competitive chips.

Than TSMC must have screwed up 55nm process too.Why?Because even though they are on the market for a long time and I can't buy on newegg any GTX285 or GTX275(only one on stock)
By the way @ Zip Zoom Fly they are still 379.
I think NewEgg just tries to gain more with the shortage.
