"real strength of execution"?

Let's roll back a couple of decades but take out all of Inte£'s anti-competitive monopolist behavior and see if they can "execute" so well without it.

They are scum and got off waaaay too lightly.

Evil always wins when the public is full of ignorant bastards who don't care how corporations act (against the public's interests).

"waa waa waa, i'll buy whatever is fastest at the best price"

You dumb bit**! One company acted illegally and against your best interests in getting that "fast" product to you. They illegally blocked fair and honest competition.

Rewarding such behavior only makes it happen time and again. (And it's fu*king stupid to boot... you're slitting your own throat because long term there won't be any competition left).
RE: Funny AMD Math by: Theo Valich on 11/13/2009
Greetings Anonymous,

Personally, I don't care about funny numbers, but this case is clear: if you ever wondered how much running a Fab costs, looking at separated figures - AMD Consolidated, AMD Product Group and GlobalFoundries, you can see how much money is GlobalFoundries bleeding quarter per quarter.

This also makes Intel's numbers look even better: Intel has vastly larger manufacturing capabilities, much more Fabs and the company is reporting billion-per-quarter profits. That's the real strength of execution.

Half for R&D... by: Anonymous on 11/13/2009

If i were the CEO of AMD, i would try to spend half of the 1.25B received by Intel on the debt and the other half on R&D. I think they really need to push foward their CPU releases to better confront Intel, otherwise Intel will continue to have much better CPUs and outsell AMD...

For a moment there, I thought the title was about AMD getting the $1.45 billion from Intel :)

Direct from AMD's Quarter Ending September 26, 2009 Financial Report:

In Thousands:

Operating Income or Loss (77,000)
Net Income Applicable To Common Shares ($128,000)

Looks like a loss of 128 million. What funny business did AMD do to turn the reported loss of 128 million into the 56 million gain?

Go here and see the REAL AMD numbers:

Click on Income Statement then Quarterly Data to see REAL financial numbers not the AMD funny numbers.

Intel & AMD Work Closely thru Legalized Exchanges of Technical FACTS. If Only One Company Existed, New Equipment would be compromised by equipment already in place, too hard to divert from 100% compatible. By haveing second company, Intel by time new product Is introduced old stuff is mostly gone & compatibilities with old equipment under that mfg name isn/t really needed, as Other comapny so FAR Ahead. Its good way to develope very complex switching & software.
