I agree that the game is slow and maybe a little dull in the beginning. It was mostly graphics that kept me entertained. I'd say the game gets progressively better. The last stretch of the game, where you get alien weapons, fight exotic enemies, and find yourself in ever-different environments, really stands out on its own.

this game ROCKS! my favorite atm.

I'm playing with 3 friends (we are close to finish it for the 2nd time /playthrough 2) and its pure fun, I tell ya.
1 of us hated it at first, now he's addicted.

sure, the beginning might be somewhat boring, but I can assure you that 30min of play means nothing in borderlands. game only start @ lvl5 character.
