Perhaps the real problem with DJ Hero and Tony Hawks Ride is that the games turned out not to be all that spectacular...I'm just guessing on this though, haven't heard any word of mouth on either.
The other problem is simply storage, where do we put all these special controllers that work with only this or that game? My older teen boys just had to have Rockband, Special Edition...the controllers would fill a small recording studio! Microphone, 2 guitars, and a drumset...and the game studios wonder why families aren't buying?

This article made me chuckle. The Author has absolutely NO knowledge of the Guitar Hero game or franchises involved. He might want to fact check who made the original Guitar Hero title and the Rock Band games.

As long as BSNews keep paying these kinds of digital clochards to write their articles, they will never ever leave the digital sewer.

I haven't the slightest idea where you get your information on various market researchers methodologies but the npd does track online sales. For example, the npd does track sales from amazon and other etailers. What it doesn't disclose to the public is digital download information such as episodic content, downloadable expansion packs, online subs and things like that.
