Just to quickly answer to the post above, if you typed "OLPC Croatia" in any search engine, and I'm just going to suggest my favourite, Google, on the very top results you would end up with something like these (below is the official wiki of OLPC):

1)http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Croatia 2)http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Europe/Volunteers 3)http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Country_name

OLPC Croatia is an NGO (non-government organisation), therefore it does not have employees but is consisted of volunteers that are trying to bring a worthy idea to realisation in their country. You can find many other similar organisations across Europe and we are all in contact, exchanging ideas, experiences, etc.

On the accusations of being corrupted by Intel, that is the best joke I heard today. Thanks for the laugh :)

Now since you wrote that you don't know anything about the candidate in question, it's always good to think and research before making any judgment. Same person was head of Ministry of Science, Education and Sports when we approached them for any kind of support. We had to ask Ministry for their blessings because this is how it works in our country when you want to bring something on local or national level. Ministry showed no interest for OLPC a year ago, even made bad comments about it. Why the sudden change of heart?

Oh and, President in our country does not have the authority to order 250 000 laptops ;)

Isn't VermIntel such a sweet and lovable corporation?

Let's buy more of their products to show our support.

I love anti-consumer monopolists.

OLPC Croatia may very well be corrupt by Intel. I don't believe OLPC has any official representatives in any "OLPC Croatia" even less that OLPC would have any employees working in Croatia.

Every time some politician has announced support for implementing the OLPC project, there is always Fear Uncertainty and Doubt being spewed around by secret Intel supporters. They always come around with scandals and other BS to try to avoid such a revolution from happening. If Croatia were to implement the OLPC model using cheap VIA powered laptops, this would be a huge blow to Intel, so they will try whatever they can to avoid it.

I don't know anything about this presidential candidate though, I just know that any politician announcing support for the OLPC project is a good thing, and anyone trying to block that is most likely corrupt since it is basically impossible to honestly be against the one laptop per child vision.
