RE: Crossfire cable...

My comment was based on the lack of different lengths when it comes to crossfire cables. The current length forces you to keep the two boards close, instead of separated as much as possible, to decrease the thermal influence of both parts.
For instance, ASUS bundled short and long Crossfire cable with their 4870 TOP boards, not sure what was the status of other parts [only had that one].
As far as Eyefinity6 release date goes, you'll see. I asked and got an answer. Originally, it was supposed to be launched in November, but the launch of that part relies on the launch of Samsung's six-display setup. Also, there were no Evergreen ASICs available due to now infamous "silk-screening" for the 5970 launch.

I'm curious where you're getting a Feb '10 release date for the Eyefinity6 edition?

"Given the price of the product, we were disappointed to see that only one Crossfire cable was included."
Well, if you buy two cards, you end up with two bridges, if you buy three cards you end up with three. That's all the bridges you need. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out. If each card came with two bridges, buying two cards will get you four bridges, two of them being totally useless.

Performance of HD 5870 in existing games offers superior experience compared to nVidia's current line-up and the case closes there. If a person is going to purchase a graphics card today, with Holiday money - 5870 is the way to go. If a consumer is buying a product couple months from now, the situation may well change.
But today, there doesn't seem to be a choice, right? If you want to play games in tested resolutions with high-levels of Anti-aliasing and Anisotropic filtering, GT200-class hardware cannot keep up. Neither can Radeon HD 4000 series, whose GPGPU weaknesses are finally exposed in the open.

Depends on your situation

If you already have a previou gen card, I.E. 48xx series or Nvidia equivalent then yes i'd be waiting.
But i have a pair of 3870s in Crossfire atm so would expect to get a good boost from this or a 5850. As my monitor is 1680x1050 i'm holding out for 5850 avilability and prices to improve.
WAIT WAIT WAIT!

If you are an impatient person who must have the latest hardware, regardless of if it is worthwhile spending a lot of money, then you should get one now.
If you have any type of high brain function you'll see that at the moment there really is no reason to jump onto the DX11 bandwagon. Either wait for Aliens vs Predator to come out in Feb or wait to see what nvidia has to offer in march.
Waiting is the best choice, the price could be lower and there will actually be a few games out that make proper use of the new tech.
