Yes, I mention the "for the children" excuse that is being tossed around to cover what is nothing more than stomping out privacy rights and freedoms.
As long as recorded history rulers have always justified what they are doing under the guise of justice/morality/etc.
This isn't what they'll use against Google.

Personally I think the legal precedent that gave corporations equivalent rights to living people ranks as #2 in the all time worst decisions of human history. It has effectively created immortal, incorporeal (and thus not possible to imprison) entities which are driven by sociopathic mob mentalities (called shareholders) with a complete obsession with profit at the expense of all other concerns like justice, decency, or the common good. Any board, CEO, or President that attempts to steer by a moral compass are tossed out by the shareholders, who act as the typical amoral mob (i.e. "it's not my responsibility since I'm just one of thousands").
This scenario will persist until we either find a way to reform capitalism itself, or it crushes us. Whether or not the latter has actually just happened is now up for debate.
Google has been itching for the lawsuit that will allow it to take on the DMCA in court. It looked like it might happen over google video/youtube but didn't quite get there. The thing is they know they can win that fight.
The real threat to Google and the rest of the Internet is the "think of the children" frenzy we're seeing stirred up by things like California's Proposition 8. When the attack on Google and Internet freedom comes, it won't be over P2P files. It'll be over child pornography, a topic even Google can't withstand being on the pro side of no matter how absurdly broad and vague the laws are.
If this current economic implosion had not come when it did, we'd probably be seeing that attack by now. But people who are losing their jobs and homes are a bit more concerned about that threat to their children at the moment. But once the political climate changes, start watching for it.
