Hearing Aids by: Margaret, Victoria, BC on 6/12/2009
Although this article is not about hearing aids, it does mention "shedding light on the mechanism of hearing". I keep thinking we are more than ready for a real breakthrough in hearing aid technology, especially with all the baby boomers coming up to that age. I watched my mother having to spend thousands of dollars on hearing aids and then having to upgrade to new ones after a few years. Plus, fiddling with tiny batteries with arthritic fingers. Now, we are watching an elderly friend go through the same thing. Meanwhile, conversations are interrupted. It is difficult to see their worlds narrowing in this way. Listening to music becomes impossible, as does normal conversation. Phone calls are missed and friends and relatives get anxious.

This is pure vanity, but couldn't those hearing aids be a bit more decorative? Why couldn't they be as pretty as earrings?
