cut-throat? last time I checked, CPU manufacturing is a business and business is cut-throat.
I remember when AMD first came out with Athlon and Phenom I and II, they sure weren't worrying about how Intel feels.
It's about competition and which company improve on the technology harder, better, faster, stronger...

they weren't such a cut throat, squash their own friends kind of company. I would never buy an Intel chip for personal use.
They even crapped on a non-profit.
