did anyone else notice the smaller countries have the fastest average internet speeds? These graphs are lopsided because for providers to upgrade to faster cheap connections, they have to re-wire a much larger country than the "faster nations". We still have full access to much faster connections, it's just reasonable for most people to go for a slower speed because perhaps their internet demands are not so high. I for example downgraded from 20mbps to 15 to 10, and I'm satisfied with my current choice. I can also afford this because fiber optic wiring is complete in my area (a 20 year process), so even my connection may not be so cheap for areas with older wiring set ups. A larger piece of land (the U.S) means more work and time involved in offering cheap high speed internet to the masses. Smaller countries will always have this advantage with the internet

Happy with 256 kbps? I went to a country that only had on average 4Mbps and I was down right pissed off by it.

Why would you be happy with living in the stone age? Our networks should become faster so that we can replace other infrastructures with a fast network backbone.... assuming the telcos don't screw us over that is.
Well, I'm happy with 256 Kbps by: Anonymous on 9/28/2009
Who, really needs a faster data plan unless you are a youtube downloader.
