Ashu Rege, Head of NVIDIA's Technology is coming this February to India's first and independent annual summit for the game development ecosystem - India Game Developer Summit (gamedevelopersummit dot com) to talk about the novel uses of GPU computing for solving a variety of problems in game computing including game physics, artificial intelligence, animation, post-processing effects and others.

It's just a bunch of vague icons that you cannot tell the function of, and a rotating set of screens / application launchers. If you had a user interface that was Apple's Dock with Apple's Coverflow you'd have something similar.
The fact that they hacked it up is proved by using bitmap fonts.
It was never meant to be a serious user interface, just a demonstration of Tegra's capabilities.
3D in a UI has to be carefully done. Most people want a crisper 2D display, and hence modern desktops present a 2D UI using the 3D hardware to accelerate compositing and effects.
