Star Trek fans who were born after the 1970's have to have memories of Captain Picard big guy. And keep your righteous star trek attitude in your mom's basement.

But there are innumerable game titles out there that are just shoot 'em type...no intelligence required, just point and shoot, grab a bigger gun, shoot some more. It doesn't matter how many times you change the background scenery, it's still the same old thing. These types of games might grab a pre-teen's attention for like, what...5 minutes? Then it's on to the next, SOSO (same old same old), and before you know it you've laid out what, average of 40 USD per game...for umpteen SOSO?
Yes, the original series "failed" at first, but hell, it went up against the likes of Laugh-In, The Beverly Hillbillys...the network pulled it...and how long has it lived in reruns? 40 plus years! That, my friend, is NOT a failure. While the action scenes may have drawn the adolescent viewers to the movies and later non-Roddenberry creations, it was the intelligence intrigue that kept some of us watching!

If Star Trek was only about exploration then the series would have ended a long time ago, in fact the Original series ended due to poor ratings, there simply wasn't enough shooting, that was changed in the movies and later episodes of the next generation.

Star trek never does well with exploration alone, its ironic that Gene Roddenberrys dream of a peaceful utopia just didn't sell, its the phasers and the photon torpedoes that sell.

Anyway ST on-line is getting rather good by wait a minute...... less exploring and more shooting.

BINGO! :D

Max, Max...you best not call yourself a "Star Trek Fan" if you only have memories of Captain Picard! If you don't have nightmares of swarms of tribbles, you are not a "Trekkie".
Besides, a "shootem, blowem up" game REALLY doesn't match up to the overall story of all the Star Trek sagas, except for later stuff. Maybe they should change the name, Star Trek is more about out-thinking your opponents, not out-blasting them...ask any true Trekkie.
