This is not exactly new technology. It has been used in the military and is in use by many high-end camera systems as well.

This is the first time that I have seen this put in place on a IP based system though. Still the technology is not exactly new...

very smart box. I've tried it, and you can set it up to recognize cars or people, and only send you alerts when you want them to the device you want. It's light years ahead of the other "dumb" surveillance cameras I've had in the past that waste time . .
