Considering that normal Alkaline Cells are 1.5v I doubt that the indicator would too far off when using 1.6v batteries. Also consider than the LP-E5 is a 7.4v battery [Li-Ion] and the BG-E5 is designed to accommodate two of them.

also means that the battery indicator will probably be inaccurate. The indicator shows 100%, but it might die very soon with no warning.

I just checked on your question about the faster recycle time and it is true. I am seeing a significant reduction in time especially with repeated shots. As for the time line. I put these batteries in on the 8th of January. I have not removed then and have used the camera just about every day [including all pictures and video taken at CES and all photos for reviews here plus many more] That same set of six is still in the T1i and still shows a full charge according to the indicator on the back of the camera.
Amazing!

It's unbelievable that after 800 RAW shots the battery indicator still shows 100%. Maybe it's a glitch, but I certainly hope not. Can't wait for your follow up!
How about some more in-depth testing? I read some testimonials where customers said they achieved faster recycling times between flashes with PowerGenix. Is this because of the higher voltage compared to regular NiMH (1.6 vs 1.2)? I'm curious if they could also improve the operating range for my wireless mouse, keyboard and gamepad...
