Yeah, I think the little "i" was pressed between some pretty sobering constraints.
I feel for the design team. The pressure to deliver an compromised miracle to the lords of marketing must be the stuff of legend...,

Sandy Bridge is HOT by: Anonymous on 9/21/2010
Sandy bridge is not hot. it has same tdp as clarksfield/arrandale with higher clockspeeds and much faster graphics(relative). It will be a killer laptop CPU.

Sandy Bridge is going to have a TDP that is WAY TOO HIGH for most mobile applications. More likely, Sandy Bridge will be aimed at the desktop market...

I personally do not know why someone would buy a desktop, where the crappy Sandy Bridge graphics processor will get in the way of adding a quality discrete graphics card.

But then again, Intel clearly knows how to threaten and bribe computer manufacturers into excluding competing processors... So, I guess Intel wins even when their product stinks.
