Google snaps AdMob for $750 million

We have received an e-mail from Mr. Omar Hamoui, founder and CEO of AdMob - one of mobile advertising companies that originally didn't seem to get the large traction as the top-tier online marketers such as Google Ad, former DoubleClick, Yahoo and so on.

Then, Apple iPhone came and the situation turned upside down. With the iPhone success, things came into place and AdMob started to bring in sizeable revenue - serving over two billion pages monthly and progressing to become the largest online advertiser for handheld devices. Today, AdMob covers not just Apple's operating system but Symbian for Nokia, Blackberry OS for RIM and most importantly, has starting making nice inroad on the Google Android platform. That "inroad" was enough for Google to write a 750 million dollar check for the company and get rid of its most advanced [and dangerous] competitor.

On the upside, this means that AdMob will gain human and financial resources to develop their on-line advertising platform and establish Google's Ad services in mobile sector as well. Omar is claiming that the deal will "accelerate the pace of innovation in mobile," and they "believe this deal will benefit our developer and publisher partners by:
  • Building even more powerful technology and tools to monetize mobile traffic.
  • Increasing the effectiveness of display advertising on mobile devices by leveraging Google sales team, infrastructure and relationships.
  • Improving the already high level of service and support we deliver to our publishers."
All in all, this looks like another Silicon Valley dream came true, and guys from the garages became millionaires. We wish all the best to the AdMob team.
