Modern Warfare 2 Release Date Announced With a Stunning Teaser

Infinity Ward, the masterminds behind the Call of Duty series, has announced the follow on for the highly popular Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - simply titled Modern Warfare 2.

It begins like this...

Their method for announcement is pretty standard with a two minute teaser, but that is where the standard stops. The teaser starts off looking very much like a simple acoustical oscilloscope. You can see the green line of the oscilloscope move in the usual wave pattern in response to what seem like ordinary office or perhaps railway station sounds, occasionally you see ghostly outlines of people walking by.

Everything changes after you hear the ding of an elevator, soon after you hear unmistakable sounds of weapons being pulled from zippered duffle bags. The tension builds as the floor numbers begin to appear like ghosts in the wave form. The sounds of the elevator door let you know things are about to heat up. Suddenly outlines of people talking are sharper and more distinct with bright spots indicating loud noises; there is an explosion and the screen whites (well greens) out while the sounds of automatic gunfire and screaming start. What follows is a series of images depicting modern warfare and combat followed by a quick return to the standard image of the game name.

We were very impressed with this teaser but what followed was even more impressive, in the lower right hand corner is an innocent looking little button that says analyze. This allows you to do just that, you can walk through the video and enhance individual frames, allowing you to view parts in greater detail.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was an amazing game with some of the best first person action and story lines we have seen in a long time.

“Everyone on the team is laser focused on making the most gripping experience we’ve ever created,” said Infinity Ward’s CEO, Vince Zampella.  “No detail is too small and every finishing touch imaginable is underway to make Modern Warfare 2 our best ever.

After watching this all we could think was; If Infinity Ward puts even half of the effort and creativity that they did in this teaser into the game and Mr. Zampella is serious about Infinity Ward’s commitment, then we are all in for one seriously wild ride when Modern Warfare 2 hits on November 10 2009.

You can checkout the teaser at Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 site.

Indeed, this will be quite a good title and i'll be just as excited if not more for this version of modern warfare. Especially after the last version of COD from Treyarch.
