Twitter leaves Earth, first tweet from space posted

Astronaut Mike Massimino became the first person in history of social media to voice off from space. Mike is twittering about the STS-125 mission. On May 12th, 2008 at 10:33PM - Mike posted the first tweet from Earth's orbit. This is the first time that Twitter "left the mother Earth". Mike's tweet consisted out of following message:

"From orbit: Launch was awesome!! I am feeling great, working hard, & enjoying the magnificent views, the adventure of a lifetime has begun!"

We received last message 20 hours ago, as Mike was readying for his spacewalk: "From orbit: Rendezvous and grapple were great, getting ready for our first spacewalk".

You can go to Twitter and check out Mike's tweets - when he finds time for them - at twitter.com/Astro_Mike. At the time of writing, Mike had 280,664 followers.

IP address change delay

Greetings,

The planned network provider change will not happen as planned, due to our site administrator ending in hospital as a consequence of his gliding accident. The wounds are not life-threatening but Mr. Ivica Hosko is still in the hospital, four days after the crash with transportation to Zagreb in two days time. We send our best wishes and hope for a speedy recovery. As soon as Mr. Hosko returns to his daily post, we'll announce the details of our network provider switch.

The following message is for Mr. Ivica himself:  "Ivica, you nut - gliding around a 2km/6600ft mountain with changeable winds in November?"

Thanks for understanding,

Ed-in-chief
