Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista is out

380MBAs announced, Microsoft released Service Pack 2 update for Windows Vista. As always, Microsoft recommends that users download and install this newest pack of patches and upgrades. In order to install SP2 on your computer you need to have Vista with installed Service Pack 1. You've read it correctly - at present, Microsoft didn't put redist version "from the ground up" version out, but we expect that a redist version for system administrators will be out either in a few hours or a few days.

The 32-bit SP2 version weighs at 380MB and brings the regular stuff expected from a service pack - support for the latest hardware and various bugfixes and security issues found after release of SP1. Complete list of news and changes in SP2 can be found on the official Vista SP2 site.

Between major changes we highlight better support for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, a cool add-on for the Windows CD/DVD burning utility - you can now burn Blu-Ray medium. SP2 also brings out the support for 64-bit VIA Nano processors. 32-bit version of SP2 can be downloaded here, and 64-bit you can download here.

Not bad to do by: Michael A. McKenney on 5/29/2009
Downloaded it to my workstation. Backed up to tape. Installed it in 15-20 minutes. Rebooted. It worked fine.
