ASUSTeK displayed P6T7 WS SuperComputer motherboard during CeBIT 2009, back in March. Now, the motherboard finally got its product page on the ASUS official P6T7WS SuperComputer page. This motherboard features Intel's X58 Northbridge and ICH10R Southbridge chipset, and two nVidia nForce 200 bridge chips for four PCIe x16 lanes. Additionally, cou can connect up to eight SATA/SAS drives internally and two externally, via eSATA ports.
The main idea behind this motherboard is to offer a motherboard capable of handling four Tesla GPUs or a Quadro FX 5800 with three Tesla D1060 GPGPU cards.
Then again, if you look to the red side of the fence, you could easily put seven single-slot ATI Radeon 4850 graphics cards and enjoy in 7TFLOPS of single-precision and 1.8 TFLOPS of dual-precision performance - indeed, a supercomputer on the desktop.
Regardless of what option system integrators and enthusiasts will decide to go with, ASUS positioned themselves nicely in the workstation segment. If you need a six or seven PCI Express x16 slot motherboard, they have a product for you. Pretty smart move and we find it odd that no other motherboard manufacturer went this route. If there is one thing that's certain, that's the need for PCI Express add-in cards.
The board supports both SLI and CrossFire, so the "ultimate perversion" mode would include four ATI 4850 graphics cards and three GeForce GTS240, if you can find a single-slot boards... or just put everything under water and have three GTX285 and four 4870s for Tri-SLI/QuadFire action ;)
