Cyberpower announced a new LAN computer to their product line up. This new LAN Party Commander System is built around the CoolerMaster Storm Scout gaming chassis - this is a brand new case from CoolerMaster that embodies many LAN party-friendly features. The combination of this CoolerMaster case and an Intel Core i7 processor means that this computer is ready to kick some serious gaming in a portable chassis.
From my experience with that case, they couldn’t have made a better decision on a case to use for a gaming rig. This case embodies many features that I would definitely find helpful when going to a LAN. It has a giant yet elegant handle at the top of the case for easy carrying as well as certain features that allow for you to secure your peripherals in the event that someone were to think to steal them. Basically, if someone sees that you have this case they’ll figure it would be easier to just move on. This system’s specs alone are nothing to joke about and for the most part should be able to play a lot of the games out today with ease.
The base CyberPower LAN Party Commander system is configured with Intel’s Core i7 920 processor and a Gigabyte X58 Motherboard, featuring Gigabit LAN, USB2.0, IEEE1394 and High-Def 7.1 audio. All in all - fairly standard features on an X58 motherboard. 6GB of DDR3-1333 memory is just what the doctor ordered for "forget swapping" mode, oh-so-needed in the world of gaming.
For the graphics subsystem, Cyberpower opted to use ATI's Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 graphics card.
And here comes the kicker. You have arguably the best quad-core processor architecture, 6GB of memory and a capable graphics card in a compact case for a price that won't break the bank. You can get all of that for the reasonable of $1129 USD. In addition to that, you get the standard three year warranty and free lifetime phone support.
Our only complaint is that they went with the 4870 instead of the better 4890 and put the system in the $1149 range. If you go for this system, make sure you spend those extra 20-30 bucks. but you can always upgrade that considering the low price that they have on this system.
