Rogue Warrior, Bethesda's upcoming shooter is inspired by Richard “Demo Dick” Marcinko's New York Times bestseller of the same name. Marcinko is a former real-life Navy SEAL and founder of the elite SEAL Team 6 and this game will follow a story based loosely on his own past military experience.
Considering Mickey Rourke, the voice behind ingame Marcinko is one tough mofo, according to Todd Vaughn, Executive Producer of Rogue Warrior, absolutely one-hundred percent captures Marcinko’s raw and gritty personality. In game players are sent on a clandestine operation to disrupt a suspected North Korean ballistic missile program. Not so long after they enter a mission they uncover a conspiracy and have to covertly enter the USSR to destroy a secret technology. If left in wrong hands this piece of tech could change the balance of geopolitical power and cause a massive headache for the "world peace and balance" loving Americans. And we can't have that can we?
Only a few things in life can beat a good barbecue...
It is currently under development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment, system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows® at Rebellion Studios Rogue Warrior is expected to arrive in Q4 of 2009. The game appears to be one of the many "real life soldier, swat, assassin, agent, gijoe and action man who wrote a book about it and got famous from it" inspired games. It is starting to become a dead horse that is continuously being beaten same as all the World War II games that litter the game market.
This guy is going to have one killer headache...
On the other hand we can't deny the pleasure we the players get when we jump into skin of that guy who "really" did this or that and "really" snuffed those other guys with a neck break from behind and then singlehandedly saved the world from Nazi/Communist threat. Personally, for me the best recreation of a "true war hero story" is the one depicted in Tropic Thunder movie. That bloody "Four-leaf" was truly epic but then again this is Mickey Rourke so let's see how "Demo-Dick" does it.
