Microsoft Windows 7 retail box is the same as the Vista's

After several weeks of rumors what the Windows 7 retail box is going to look like, Microsoft finally revealed the look of Windows 7 retail boxes on the Microsoft Store itself. The store states that Windows 7 is "coming soon", and the available methods for purchase will either be digital delivery - same ISO image as the ones on MSDN [Microsoft Software Developers Network] or order via courier service.

Windows 7 retail box design revealed on Microsoft's Store - even cleaner than Windows Vista, but still in the same format of a curved, fat DVD box.

As you can see in the pictures above these boxes really look as Windows Vista ones. In fact, the similarity was such that we went on to Command prompt and checked to see if the link wasn't actually being re-routed to somewhere else.

Above, Windows 7 retail boxes. This picture shows you how the infamous Vista boxes look like.
This picture shows you how the infamous Vista boxes look like...in case you forgot ;-)

Now, we see that all the PR efforts in breaking away from Vista are going in vain, since the retail boxes are exactly the same. The coloring schemes are the same too - Windows  7 Ultimate continues to love the color of the night, Windows 7 Professional uses light blue [just like Windows XP Professional and Vista Business], while the Windows 7 Home Premium equals Windows XP Home and Vista Home Premium.

The Devil lies in details, as the old saying goes.
