When Asetek dedicated their efforts to putting liquid cooling onto mainstream, many enthusiasts were disappointed, but in the end - the company put its mouth where the money is. Today, Asetek is inside systems from Acer, HP/Voodoo and Dell/Alienware, boutique vendors such as CyberPower-PC and even workstation manufacturers such as Boxx Technologies.
Recently, Asetek signed up Corsair to deliver a mainstream liquid cooling part, and so far, that story is a runaway success. We chatted with Gary about the upcoming trade shows and product announcements and then he touched the subject of liquid cooling becoming a standard:
"LC is so compelling for gaming PCs, I expect at least one leading OEM will go full attach as a standard offering. Providing LC as an option is required for any credible gaming system."
In order to truly become a liquid cooling giant, Asetek is working at full speed with OEM and ODM manufacturers in manufacturing enclosures that are compatible with their LCLC [Low Cost-Liquid Cooling]. After the fear of leaks ended by using Teflon cabling, all that Asetek needs to do is to take attention at cases that don't comply with ATX standard [you'd be surprised to know how many motherboard vendors and case manufacturers actually don't comply with the ATX specs.]
Naturally, at present time we cannot disclose the identity of the companies at hand, but Holiday season 2009 and 2010 in general are looking [finally!] to be the time when liquid cooling will hit mainstream. Andre S. Eriksen, founder and the CEO of the company told us once that Asetek will become a $500M/year turnover company and from the looks of it, that year is not that far off.
