Benchmark attack on Siggraph 2009: SPECviewperf 11 and many more

The world of benchmarks was a little bit stale since Futuremark released its browser benchmark "Peacekeeper". Luckily, we got contacted by representatives from SPEC [Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation] to give us a little bit of info about what's coming on next week's Siggraph 2009 conference in New Orleans.

If you love seeing and running new benchmarks, this news will certainly light up your day. SPEC is going to announce a series of new benchmarks, and one of most interesting ones is the new SPECapc for 3ds MAX 2010 benchmark. As you can see in the image below, the test will be impressive indeed.

SPEC is also finalizing benchmark for a second 3D visualization app from Autodesk: SPECapc for Maya 2009. It doesn't stop there, with SPECapc for LightWave 3D 9.6. Of course, Siggraph cannot pass without a look at SPECviewperf 11, latest version of world's most popular workstation benchmark.

SPECviewperf 11 is currently in alpha stage, and this is the only "screenshot" we could get prior to Siggraph :-(

SPECviewperf 11 is currently in alpha stage and will be demonstrated to the attending public for the very first time, but at press time, we had no information about the release date for the benchmark. In the light of both nVidia and ATI launching new workstation cards, we can't wait to lay our hands on these new benchmarks.

New Servers are in!

 Greetings and welcome to BSN*,

We have just acquired several brand new servers that are being configured on a multiple 100Mbps links and set up in line with the new features and services that are launching soon. We were assured this investment will solve any issues that plagued the site as a consequence of being linked on mainstream media networks.

We will inform you when the server change takes place, as BSN will be offline for 24-72 hours. Expect a heads-up a week ahead.

The BSN* Team
