It looks like the security software vendors had it done with all the hoax companies spamming the Internet. After years of watching ads with misleading advertising, leading users to download allegedly secure software such as anti-virus or anti-spyware tools, legitimate vendors finally gathered to fight this security risk.
We too noticed a lot of spyware/malware vendors advertising on Google AdWords, and reported several companies that actually advertised malware. But now, group of security companies gathered in CCSS Forum [Common Computing Security Standards], organization that will battle the malware making companies.
The names in CCSS Forum are nothing to be sneezed at, with 40 members ranging from multi-billion dollar revenue giants such as CA, Cisco Systems, McAfee, Symantec to a fleet of large security firms specialized in their field, such as Avira, CheckPoint, Comodo, ESET, F-Secure, Kaspersky Lab and many more.
The group works towards creating industry standards for detecting and identifying malware, provide an easy way to communicate the industry problems and of course, act as a single point of contact to other industries affected by malware software.
We wonder how the organization will pan out.
