Arctic Cooling expands from PC to battery business

Even though the market has begun its road to recovery, our negotiations with potential advertising partners still tell a pale tale of a weak market. A lot of marketing budgets have been slashed, and if you're a serious company, you won't accept compensation for a motherboard or something like that.

Thus, we weren't surprised to hear that companies are branching outside their core business - and Arctic Cooling decided to do just that. This Hong Kong-based company run by controversial Swiss Magnus Huber decided to branch out into the world of non-rechargeable AA and AAA batteries.

AA batteries feature capacity of 2900 mAh, while AAA batteries pack 1300 mAh. Both batteries use Zinc-Manganese Dioxide (Zn/MnO2), and feature no Mercury, Cadmium and other EU-banned substances.

The batteries come in packs of eight pieces, and you can get a carton with 80 sets [640 batteries] at a "very attractive price". All in all, good to hear that the IT companies are branching out, and we doubt that a company would risk their entry into the market with a sub-standard or plain-vanilla parts.

Even though we doubt that Arctic Cooling would go and compete against Duracell, Energizer and the like, the fact is that AC has a good distribution network and that should be enough to start appearing in computer stores, and some sales will happen.
