, a venture dedicated to developing non volatile memory technology has acquired intellectual property and patnets related to their Conductive Bridging Random Access Memory
[CBRAM] technology from the now defunct Qimonda AG. The agreement includes purchase of 30 patent related families and licensing of additional undisclosed patents.
The agreement "positions Adesto as the clear leader in CBRAM memory technology and enhances our current IP position in this area tremendously"
according to Dr. Narbeh Derhacobian, CEO of Adesto Technologies. Further, Dr. Derhacobian stated "We are impressed with the Qimonda developed IP and believe it will accelerate our time to market in delivering our memory technology platform solution to end users in discrete and embedded application spaces"
. Further he said, "We are impressed with the Qimonda developed IP and believe it will accelerate our time to market in delivering our memory technology platform solution to end users in discrete and embedded application spaces."
The Qimonda patent portfolio is being liquidated by the insolvency administration in Germany since the company filed for bankruptcy protection in January, 2009. The administration is marketing approximately 10,000 worldwide patents and patent applications from the former firm’s accumulated intellectual property.
Qimonda spent four years internally developing and demonstrating the potential of the Programmable Metal Cell technology, originally licensed from Axon Technologies of Phoenix, Arizona. They were able to develop a cost effective, high performance non volatile memory solution.
The CBRAM technology has many of the desirable characteristics required for storage class memory now important in developing solid state disks for server through tablet computing service. Construction simplicity along with balanced read/write timing, low latency with attendant low power makes it one of the lead candidates in the race for this market. Longer term applications include the important system on chip [SoC] market includes embedded control and smart phone mobile market.
Like we said before this is a must watch company.
