Non-profit organization Mozilla has released a new add-on which soups up Awesome Bar of the Firefox 4 browser with handy webpage previews that let you glance at stocks, weather, time, and more without even visiting the originating site.
Aptly named Instant Preview, the add-on creates previews of the sites listed in Firefox's address bar, also known as Awesome Bar. As a result, you don't have to leave your results in order to visit a site and check up on the stuff like weather, stocks, or comics. To dismiss the page preview, simply hit the Escape key.
The add-on is also a convenient time-savior because it automatically starts loading pages as you select them from the address bar suggestions. In other words, by the time you make your selection, the page might have already loaded. The extension kinda speeds up browsing as you can scroll through the suggestions and check out the previews before you select a desired page.
Instant Preview has been pushed out as part of the Prospector project, Mozilla Labs' new series of experiments dealing with search-related improvements and prototypes for the Firefox browser.
You can download Instant Preview add-on for Firefox 4 here. The extension doesn't require a browser restart to use.
