In Memoriam: Chris Arthington

During CES 2010 in Las Vegas, I finally met with Chris "ChrisRay" Arthington, long-time 3D enthusiast and an administrator at nVidia's SLIZone Forums. Unfortunately, that was our last meeting.

By the time I finally met Chris in person, we already exchanged dozens of e-mails over the course of more than half a decade. He told me he followed my work ever since I joined The Inquirer and we talked less technology, and more had a good time with other members of the press and the GeForce team, in that night following GF100 briefings.

Unfortunately, that was the last night Chris had good time on planet Earth. The following day, Chris didn't felt well and flew back to Tulsa, OK. We heard news going from bad to worse and in the final hours of last week, Chris passed away from pneumonia. To make the matters worse, Chris spent much of his life supporting his mother that suffers from a long-term illness. Thus, members of nVidia team and nVnews opened up a donation page through PayPal. You can also read a story on nVidia's Blog page.

It's not just GeForce community that lost a valuable member, it's the 3D community as a whole. Chris wrote several articles and was an active member of GeForce community, but also had few comments here at BSN*.
From the deepest heart, I express my sincerest condolences to his mourning family and friends. You will be remembered.

RIP my fellow geek
Rest in peace by: Anonymous on 2/2/2010
I met a Chris a few times at Nvidia events, and he was an affable, genuine guy. It is shame he died so young . I can't believe he passed after only a few days of my seeing him last.

Rest in peace Chris.
Great guy! by: Anonymous on 2/2/2010
