Crucial's SSD reach One Dollar Per GigaByte: 256GB for $256

While walking around the press room, we encountered Ryan from PC Perspective, who told us of quite an interesting story that is going on at the Crucial online store.

The company is selling its M225 Series Solid State Drives for quite a unique price: one dollar per gigabyte. Truth to be told, the units are refurbished ones, so you can't be sure how long will they last but at least you can get an 128GB drive for $128. In our case, a 256GB drives for $256 each.

The only caveat is the fact that these drives use Multi-Level Cell SSD technology and are refurbished. As we all know, refurbished product can be the one that was simply returned within 30 days from purchase and can no longer legally be sold as new in the United States, or a drive that experienced a failure and Crucial replaced/soldered a working part.

If you want to see this "$1=1GB SSD" deal, head over to Crucial's online store.
