Polaroid Hires Gaga and Jarvis to Oversee Products, Hip Gear Looms

Shot by Fashion Fame, Lady Gaga is seen with pink hair with grey roots, emphasing the new Polaroid Grey Label line. Her camera-enabled sunglasses are the result of a collaboration between Polaroid, the 70-year-old instant imaging camera company; Gaga, the bizarre fashion and musical icon; and the design firm Ammunition of San Francisco, known for their Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.

The oversized sunglasses are part of a new suite of Grey Label products which includes a GL30 Instant Digital Camera with built-in printer, a separate GL10 Instant Mobile Printer set to go for $150 and Lady Gaga's GL20 Camera Glasses.

The sunglasses have two embedded 1.5-inch LCD displays that are just below your line of sight, so you can really see when wearing them. The sunglass lenses let you capture and display digital images simultaneously, thus you can show everyone what you just saw from your viewpoint. You capture images by clicking the shutter, or you can set it to go off every ten or sixty seconds.

Lady Gaga makes news at every turn. Wax figures of her in various costumes appear in Shanghai at Madame Tussauds, as well as in New York, Las Vegas, Hollywood, Amsterdam, Berlin, London and Hong Kong. Her upcoming album, Born This Way, is due out in May.

An artist from the realm of photography will also lend his talent to Polaroid. Chase Jarvis will advise the company on product endeavors. He was to speak at the Polaroid booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center's Central Hall. Jarvis is known for his still and moving pictures that exam and interpret art and popular culture.

Wind for the Kung Fu vs Element Series by Chase Jarvis

Scott W. Hardy, Polariod President, explains:

We strive to develop new, fresh offerings that inspire people. Through partnering with Chase, we are continuing to foster two important elements of our brand – creativity and inspiration.

Chase responded:

Like Polaroid, I believe in supporting fellow photographers and artists of all backgrounds and styles to pursue their dreams of creative expression.

In addition to art for art's sake, Jarvis does commercial work providing companies with advertising images. In 2009, he worked with SanDisk to announce a new line of flash memory cards, the SanDisk Extreme Pro. He has written books on photography, and created a mobile photography app dubbed Best Camera that enhances a device's photo functions with artistic effects and allows you to share your pictures directly on social network platforms.
