Samsung to Show Ultra-High Res Tablet LCD: 2560x1600 in 10 Inches!

Back on CES 2011 and MWC in Barcelona, we heard that LCD manufacturers are preparing ultra-high resolution displays for tablets. On May 17th at SID Display Week 2011 International Symposium in Los Angeles, CA, Samsung is going to show a 300 dpi prototype.

Samsung 10.1" LCD Screen is finally getting a resolution that can show this photoshopped image in true colorsThe company is simply calling the product "Tablet Display", featuring a 10.1" PenTile matrix, rather than conventional RGB stripe panel. This 16:10 display packs 2560x1600 resolution in just 10.1", i.e. the same resolution present on 30" panels from Dell, HP, Lenovo and Samsung.

Furthermore, this 4.1 million pixel display features brightness of 600 cd/m2, more than 95% of all LCD panels in the world (Medical Imaging, Glass Cockpits - industrial/military electronics uses up to 3,000 cd/m2).

According to our sources, LG.Philips i.e. LG is expected to demonstrate a similar panel as well. We also heard that other Far Eastern manufacturers are also preparing to demonstrate high-resolution 4.5" and 5" (1024x600), 7" (1280x720, 1280x800) and 8.9" (1366x768, 1400x900) panels.

All in all, if you thought that we're seeing brilliant images on smartphones and tablets of today, you haven't seen anything yet. Now, where are those 4K, 2160p LCD displays for my desktop...
