We have seen some spectacular changes in mobile tools, Android Slates, Android Phones, iPads, webOS and many other tools that have made us go WOW and dream of portable power and performance to let us have everything anywhere at any time.
Three computers which we are going to use for our journey with Windows 8: Iconia A500 Android/Tegra 2 tablet, 11.1" Subnotebook Intel CULV and innovative Acer Iconia 6120 dual-touchscreen notebook
It looks like Microsoft is listening and ready to go to a new level. As you all know, Windows 8 represents completely new type of operating system - there are no multiple versions of Windows. We are now looking at one core, one kernel working on all types of chipsets around the world - from complete System-On-Chip flavors from companies such as TI, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, as well as the familiar X86 processors from Intel and AMD.
The Tiled UI (User Interface is going to remind most people of a newer version of the Windows Phone or Zune). Tiles and Touch are really at the heart of one of the major changes of the interface going forward as Touch and Gesture based HUI (Human User Interface) becomes more standard.
When you Start Windows 8 you will come up to a brand new TILE format screen which slides from left to right and right to left (like the feel of the current Android Honeycomb) on the Acer Iconia A500.
It's almost a 3-in-1 operating system, a cocktail between a traditional desktop OS with native touch screen interface and using HTML5 and JavaScript throughout. According to Microsoft, you can still have the traditional icon-based user interface, but in runs in parallel to the touch screen one, not an overlay of sorts (such as previous iterations of the OS - think of it as Xbox 360-style UI).
As you may remember from my article about the Cyberverse and the changes projects have when combined with other projects, Microsoft has listened not only to the masses but looked at the world around us changing and is pouring zillions of months, weeks, days and hours into this transformation.
And just as I suggested in my article about the
"Reboot of Social Network 9.0", Windows is going through its first major REBOOT since Windows 95.
All the gadgets, Widgets, Applications that you love will be given a new form and function as things now will "Stream" and "Tile" and "Live Update" information in new ways side by side with other applications and yet work across all form factors from the smallest of arm designs and phones up to the largest of possible 3D Rooms you can expect to give a wide range of devices and changes and YES... Windows Word and Excel still work as well as all your or majority of your programs you currently use.
This is a REBOOT and a move away from everything you were once use to and is the first major interface change can only be compared to the change from Windows 3.1 to 95... Since Windows 95 and the most used version of Windows being XP currently the changes were in the stability. Since then Windows 7 and server 2008 R2 we have seen the move to 64bit and greater stability but very little change in How you use windows as it was meant for a "Desktop" experience.
The Desktop Experience is about to also get a REBOOT to be more than something it was as systems like the Iconia by Acer in the form of the W500 and Dual Screen Iconia give us systems that use NO KEYBOARD and resort to Screen Keyboards.
Even this has evolved from the experiences learned from the Samsung Q1- one of my favorite UMPC (Ultra Mobile Personal Computers) that only is about 7" with a split physical keyboard on both sides of the unit.
Now the VIRTUAL Keyboards can simulate this to allow slate users to use a THUMB style interface or "Two Finger" separated on the Left and Right sides of the screens.
I have poured over hours of real video feed from the conference currently available online all over the place on the web and it’s in my opinion the best of Windows of the past or current version of 7... meets Android and iPad without any change to the standards that people are use to today.

What does this mean to you and the world? If Microsoft continues on the path they currently are and the chip manufactures continue down the path that they are it means you will find your next phone may have Windows 8 on it running a NVIDIA or Qualcomm ARM silicon with all the features you expect from windows and the added bonus of never skipping a beat when it comes to using any software you are already use to and a WHOLE NEW WORLD of on demand applications similar to the Android Market Place and iPhone / iPad interfaces.
Microsoft is waiting buying and positioning itself for a launch I doubt we have ever seen in our lives on October 2012. At the same time we will get our first look at the new Xbox Reboot as well as it most likely will be based on a new form of Windows 7.

We have seen parts of this already... Testing and development of Kinect as mentioned in the
Cyberverse article combined with Surface and the increase of computer power and performance and nano storage along with the lowering costs of SSD to give us much more compute power and greater battery life will give us an experience we have only started to see.
Think of it another way... Microsoft did something unexpected - they let Google, Apple and other firms prototype and play with equipment before it was ready. Single core with no true dedicated Graphics cards that can handle DirectX 11.
For example, NVIDIA Tegra 2 powers our Iconia A500 and the power of that silicon allows me to play many 3D games from the PC world on my Android and give me the ability to turn the Slate as if it was a steering wheel.
Take all those currently developed products and mix them up with the experiences of Desktop and Come up with something new and you might get a hint of what to expect with Windows 8 and the new Xbox Experience.
This is going to make the PC Fun again and just as addictive as any of the current smartphones and devices since those are the blueprints and lessons learned. Was Windows Vista a failure? The answer is No - it was a stepping stone to buy time and develop windows 8... just like NVIDIA had the GeForce 7 series which was just a time buy in order to make the G80, i.e. GeForce 8. Same thing happened with Apple and iPhone 3G and 3G S. Apple needed time to create the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3G S was created.
Are Windows Mobile 7 and 7.5 a failure? After all, Microsoft is selling phones in hundreds of thousands per quarter - while the competition is shipping millions or tens of millions. No, Windows Phone 7 is nothing else but buying time, a stepping stone to create and learn how to do Windows 8 for Mobile (Windows 8 for Mobile - NOT Windows Mobile 8) since its going to be a UNIFIED Single Platform on all device levels... at least that's the idea.
Again step back and take off the ear plugs... look around the world and listen and look at all the people running around working with phones and computers side by side and what if you had the ability to do it all with one device... a computer that’s a phone and a phone that’s a computer or are they the same thing.
Well if Microsoft has its way... it's going to be BOTH.
Skype buys Qik, Microsoft buys Skype, Microsoft buys Nokia, Nokia drops Symbian, Microsoft goes after a new market? Financial analysts are fueling rumors in order to inflate the price of their portfolios, but very few are seeing the big picture.
All at once people...Theoretical Microsoft’s purchase of Nokia would tactical and very specific purchased aimed at one goal. However, the truth is that Microsoft DOES NOT CARE WHAT DEVICE YOU BUY. Copyrights and Patents held by the company result in $5-15 for every Android smartphone sold by any vendor. If Microsoft would combine Nokia's patent portfolio, it would simply add Apple, HP and others to the mix, as Nokia owns majority of telecommunications patents. The company's Finnish attitude did result in lack of patent trolling movements, but with or without Microsoft, Nokia's IP could significantly drain the competition's coffers.
One thing is certain though... Windows 8 will significantly change your computing experience, regardless of what computing device are you using.
