VIDEO: Former AMD Executive Says 2012 is Make or Break For Wintel

Patrick "Pat" Moorhead recently gave an insightful video for G+, a social network for the Gerson Lehrman Group of independent financial analysts.

In a five minute video, the former Vice President of AMD went on to explain that "Wintel has a horrible track record up to 2012 in the mobility space," which is a statement we cannot but agree. Windows Phone is at the bottom of Smartphone operating system share, Windows CE is a non-player - and even the old Windows Mobile 6.x operating system has a higher share than WP7 and WP7.5 Mango.

Moorhead also stated that 2012 is "do or die" year for both companies, given that "Microsoft is going to be very aggressive with marketing not just to end-users but more importantly with the carriers themselves… This is a make or break year for Wintel, for Microsoft, for Windows 8, they have to knock it out of the park."
