Regardless of what you might think of piracy, the fact is that it will continue to exist regardless of SOPA, PIPA, ACTA or similar laws which are intended to control the Internet, rather than protecting copyright.
Even though content-distribution lobbies are continuously raising the phrase "piracy reduces the sales", Meoble.com released an interesting infographic based on TorrentFreak data. Check the image below and see were those movies damaged by piracy or did piracy actually spurn sales of movie tickets and optical media, just as it was the case in 1960s and 1970s, when pirate radios and bootleg recordings were used to circumvent the tightly controlled mainstream media.
