The Killer Wireless-N 1202 is Killer's first wireless dual-band N chip capable of simultaneous Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0
Qualcomm Atheros has today announced their latest wireless N gaming product. The Killer Wireless-N 1202 module (QCABHB1202) features Qualcomm Atheros' QCA2282 highly integrated chip capable of delivering a/b/g/n wireless connectivity while also enabling Bluetooth 4.0 among many other features.
The QCA2282 system architecture, the core hardware behind the Killer Wireless-N 1202, is a dual-band N device that is capable of operating on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. In addition to the dual-band capability, it is capable of data rates of up to 300 Mbps (on wireless N) with range enhancing technologies.
The real beauty, though, is in the software that Killer brings to the table. Qualcomm originally acquired the Killer product line of wireless networking adapters because Bigfoot Networks was using Qualcomm's hardware but doing wonders with it in software. As such, the real power in the Killer Wireless-N 1202 really lies beneath the surface in the various technologies and software that are available for it. The Advanced Stream Detect technology is the, forgive the pun, 'Killer App'. This technology is what allows the wireless adapter to classify and prioritize different types of wireless traffic and to determine which HD videos, online games and HD audio streams are more important to you for the best user experience. The Killer WNA (wireless network adapter) also has a visual bandwidth control technology which allows you to see which applications are hogging the most bandwidth and to properly adjust your performance in order to prevent those applications from having an effect on your gaming.
Qualcomm is currently shipping this wireless network adapter in Alienware's latest systems with their Killer Network manager with PC Monitor. Additionally, these adapters come with Wi-Fi Direct which enables quick and easy connection between devices without an actual network.
