At the Google I/O 2012 developer conference, which is being held in San Francisco, CA - Google announced its future - Project Glass i.e. Augmented Reality glasses just become a reality.

Even though the media played to the tune of Project Glass being Sergey Brin's pet project, Project Glass is much more dangerous for other players and probably represents the biggest project Google is taking on. Yes, these Augmented Reality glasses represent the future of Google and whoever tells you otherwise, isn't thinking straight.
You can see the video of Tomi Ahonen, leading mobile analyst (voted Forbes #1 mobile analyst) giving speech at the TEDx MongKok conference here. While the Augmented Reality movement was pushed by several small players such as Layar and Bippar, having Google pushing forward Augmented Reality is something which has other players worried.



After all, if Google moves the Search from devices such as Apple iPad and iPhone, or Android Devices - to Glasses, then the device you have becomes irrelevant as the glasses are your computer interface. Long story short, watch the video and comment - is Augmented Reality the future of computing?
