Hollywood-based post production company, Light Iron
, announced their acquisition of OFFHOLLYWOOD’s facilities in New York City. But what could this mean for future productions in the Big Apple?
Light Iron already leads the industry in being a post facility dedicated exclusively towards file-based digital workflows. And while other companies in Hollywood are looking for ways to downsize or redistribute their resources, Light Iron saw an opportunity to expand further by developing an East Coast presence.
“OFFHOLLYWOOD is known in New York in the same way that Light Iron is known in Los Angeles,” says Michael Cioni, CEO of Light Iron, “Its founders Mark Pederson and Aldey Sanchez have built an impressive company that fully comprehends and embraces file-based workflow across production and post, [and] we will push capabilities even further by bringing new talent and new technologies that the New York television, feature, and fashion markets haven't yet experienced.”
Light Iron New York is already open, featuring premier digital intermediate, color grading, mastering, and archival solutions to file-based workflows. In addition, their new offices will be a center of distribution for OUTPOST, their on-site post production systems that we covered last summer
. OFFHOLLYWOOD will still provide camera rental and support operations within the same building, while being able to offer Light Iron’s next-gen post services. New York City is known more in the television world, and as networks continue to look towards a more efficient digital workflow, facilities like Light Iron will continue to see strong and rapid growth.
